What is AVGS coaching?

AVGS coaching is one-on-one coaching that you pay for with the Activation and Placement Voucher (Aktivierungs- und Vermittlungsgutschein, AVGS) from the Employment Agency or the Job Center. The voucher covers the costs in full, you pay nothing on top.

You receive the voucher from your placement advisor at the Job Center or the Employment Agency. It is valid for coaching with a certified provider such as Good Prospects. We explain step by step how to get the voucher in How to apply for an AVGS.

You’re facing a fresh professional start and wondering how to take the next step? With AVGS coaching in Berlin, you get exactly the support that fits your situation – individual, free and at your own pace. We guide you with structured, hands-on support: from your first orientation to your next career step.

Don’t have an AVGS yet?

This is where most people hesitate. It doesn’t have to be an obstacle.

The voucher is issued by your placement or integration advisor, at the Job Center or the Employment Agency. There is no automatic legal entitlement – the decision is at your advisor’s discretion. That’s why it helps to go into the conversation able to name your career goal and what you’d like coaching to support you with. You’ll find an overview of how to get coaching funded through the Job Center.

That’s exactly where we support you. Under applying for an AVGS you’ll find the process in seven steps, along with wording you can use in the conversation with your advisor.

Frequently asked questions about AVGS coaching

The questions we’re asked most often

Nothing, as long as your AVGS is approved before you start. The Employment Agency or the Job Center pays the costs of the approved coaching in full and directly to us. You pay nothing on top.

Under certain conditions, your Employment Agency or Job Center can also cover travel costs or childcare costs. You clarify this with your advisor before you start.

That depends on your voucher. Your advisor at the Employment Agency or the Job Center decides individually how many teaching units your coaching includes. A unit usually lasts 45 minutes; 20 units are possible, for example, or more.

You decide together with us how to spread these units across individual sessions. Some use them within a few weeks, others spread them over several months, online or on-site in Berlin.

Anyone to whom the Employment Agency or the Job Center issues an AVGS. Above all, these are people who are unemployed, at risk of unemployment or looking for training, as well as people receiving benefits who are supported by the Job Center.

You don’t necessarily have to be unemployed; what counts is your current situation and your advisor’s assessment. We explain this in detail in How to apply for an AVGS.

You speak directly to your placement or integration advisor, at the Job Center or the Employment Agency. It helps if you can name your career goal, your current hurdle, and how coaching specifically helps you. You’ll find the full process in seven steps in How to apply for an AVGS.

In AVGS coaching in Berlin, we guide you step by step: from taking stock of your professional situation, to defining your goals, to putting them into practice. The coaching is shaped entirely around your situation and helps you gain clarity, structure, and confidence for your fresh start. On request, the coaching takes place in English.

Usually you can start within a few days of receiving your AVGS voucher. As soon as you have the voucher, we arrange your start date and get going right away – with no long waiting times.

Usually your AVGS voucher and a few basic details about your professional situation are enough – for example your background so far, your goals, and any documents such as a CV or current application materials, if you have them. Most of the time you don’t need more. We’ll sort out everything else together in the first conversation.

We don’t leave you on your own after the coaching. The transition into a new job is often the phase where many questions come up again – and that’s exactly where we stay by your side.

We support you through your first weeks in the new job, help you when you’re unsure, give you orientation with new tasks, and help you handle challenges with confidence.

That way you make sure your start not only succeeds, but also feels stable.
