The path from studies into work – or a change of direction along the way – can be overwhelming. Many academics know the feeling: you’ve learned a lot, but you’re not sure how to translate it into a clear professional direction.
You might recognize yourself here:
This is exactly where our academic coaching comes in: we help you gain clarity, sharpen your profile, and take the next step with confidence.
In our academic coaching, we work on what really moves you forward – hands-on and tailored to your situation.
A university degree doesn’t make applying easier – often it makes it harder. You’ve learned a lot, but job ads ask for experience, and your profile fits ten fields at once. In application coaching, we translate your qualifications into the language of employers.
Application coaching is part of academic coaching – you don’t book anything extra.
For every career stage
Our academic coaching in Berlin is for academics in all kinds of life stages – whether you’re just starting out, returning to work, or wanting to change direction.

After a break, parental leave, or a period of reorientation, you’re asking yourself: where to now? We help you gain clarity and approach your return to work with confidence.

Studied or worked abroad and want to gain a foothold in Germany? We support you with applications, building your network, and finding your way in the German job market.

You have plenty of experience, but the next step is unclear? Whether a change of industry, repositioning, or new perspectives – we help you put your strengths to work in new ways.
You decide whether we meet in Berlin or work via video call. Online, the coaching works the same way: fixed one-on-one sessions, working on your documents together on screen, tasks between sessions. Many people use a mix: the first consultation on-site, the sessions after that online.
The AVGS covers both formats, as long as your voucher has no regional restriction. We check this with you in advance. This makes online coaching an option even if you don’t live in Berlin. The coaching is available in English.

Let’s find out in a conversation how we can support you with your career goals.
Options for your next step
If you notice that you could use support with your career direction, you’ll find coaching programmes here that start right at these transitions, in Berlin and online. How to get the voucher for them is explained in How to apply for an AVGS.
Frequently asked questions about academic coaching
The duration depends on your goals and your situation. Usually we work together over several weeks – with regular one-on-one sessions that we flexibly adapt to your daily life.
Nothing, with an approved AVGS. The Employment Agency or the Job Center covers the costs in full; there are no additional payments. Whether you’re granted an AVGS is decided by your advisor case by case. How to request the voucher and what you can say in the conversation is explained in How to apply for an AVGS.
Our coaching is for university graduates, academics changing direction, returning to work after a break, or facing a career change at 45+. We also support international academics in Germany.
Academic coaching goes deeper: we work not only on application documents, but also on clarity, positioning, and your self-confidence. It’s an individual process tailored to your situation.
Both are possible. We offer appointments on-site in Berlin as well as online coaching – whichever suits you better.
You request the AVGS from your Employment Agency or your Job Center. There is no entitlement to it; the decision lies with your advisor. A clear reason helps: your goal, your current hurdle, the benefit of the coaching. You’ll find the steps and help with wording in How to apply for an AVGS. We also explain the process in the first consultation.
